High Five For Friday!

It's Friday and it's Valentine's Day! It really can't get any better, because tonight we are headed to my favorite Italian place in Seattle, Tutta Bella. Now let's get started with H54F!

1. Last Sunday Seattle got a bit of snow, so Brian and I drove around town in it and got some BBQ. We went to Dickey's. I've been craving it ever since we had it at our friends' Super Bowl party. Yum!

2. My brother-in-law brought me Icelandic tea from his travels and I can't get enough. Good thing it's cold out.

3. Our favorite wedding picture finally went up on the wall!

4. Ok, so I'm really happy to be home and have all our furniture. I love this chair!

5. I love this guy =]=]=] He makes me smile!

Have a Happy Friday and a lovely Valentine's Day!

High Five For Friday!

Hope you guys had an awesome Thanksgiving, filled with family, friends & of course yummy food! Since I skipped the last few H54F, this week's is a compilation of a few weeks worth of highlights =]

1. I might have mentioned this before, but I few weeks back I had a midnight-airport-coffee date with one of my besties from when we were little. She had a layover in Seattle on her way back home to AK and I went to meet her and catch up! It was awesome!

2. While we were in Spokane visiting our friends Jeremy in Amaleah, I had my first Moscow Mule! Finally! I've been wanting to try it for a while now.

3. This years Thanksgiving was spent at my parents house. It was great! We all cooked something and it was really nice just to be home with my family. The sweet treat this year could not have been anything other than a Pie from A La Mode. If you are ever in Seattle, do yourself a favor and have some pie there. We had Mexican Chocolate Mousse, It has Cayenne pepper on top =], same as at our wedding.

4. And speaking of our wedding, it was featured in The Knot! I am beyond excited about this!!!

5. Every time we drive up I5, Brian always says " Our favorite house is coming up!", so today I thought I'd share it with you. It's pretty cool really.

Happy Friday Friends!!!

High Five For Friday!!!

You guys, it's Friday and I can't wait to spend our last weekend in Peru with Brian and our sweet friends. Next week it's going to be more packing and clearing things out. Can't wait =]. Here is how this past week went.

  1. Last Saturday we carved our cute little pumpkins and watched some UFC. I don't know if it was the fights or what, but my pumpkin turned out very scary! I'm oh so very excited for it =]

  2. Sunday morning was brunch time. I had Salmon Eggs Benedict [yum] and a cappuccino. Peru does espresso right!

  3.  It would seem I eat a lot and often, and that's all very true. I love good, pretty food. Fact. Jules and I went on the first of our many farewell lunches and this time it was at a vegetarian/organic place. It was epic. Cheese stuffed gnocchi with pomodoro sauce and a vegetarian moussaka with a simple salad. I mean...yea.

  4.  After lunch that day we were mostly trying to find dessert and some coffee =]=]=] and went it to the store that carries these beauties. Little "gold" roses in glass capsules. Precious.

  5. Oreo Balls. These are amazing! I made them yesterday and had to stop myself from eating them all. Picture and recipe courtesy of Undressed Skeleton, seriously this girl makes the best desserts.

High Five For Friday!!!

My week was pretty uneventful, made a few things [mostly food], went a few places. Nothing to write home about really, but here I am doing it anyway! That's how I roll, ya! =] =] =]

1. I was going gluten free, right...well so much for that. I had and unopened bag of whole wheat flour and I really wanted to make something with it. It turns out it was meant to be cheesy beer bread! a.m.a.z.i.n.g.

2. Last weekend Brian and I made it to downtown Lima and did some souvenir shopping. We scored some alpaca sweaters with llamas embroidered on them LOL. Yes, there is a difference between alpacas and llamas; there are also the vicuña and the guanaco. They look different, but all are raised for their coats. You just learned something, you're welcome =]=]=] Anyway...the picture is of the cathedral at the main square =].

3. I've been getting my smoothie on, in my PJs, this week. Find it here.

4. Also I made my first [of many] turmeric+tamarind juice. It is so good and good for you =].

5. Yesterday I fell back in love with Kina Grannis. Not that I ever stopped ...uhh loving her?!...haha this is starting to sound a bit weird, but I spent most of the day listening to her CDs and she is the bomb.com! Have a listen over at www.kinagrannis.com.

High Five For Friday!!!

1. Gap Peru opened a month ago at Larcomar, which is a mall on the cliffs in Miraflores, and I finally made it in to check it out!!! Exciting!

2. It's barely pumpkin season and they are breaking out Christmas decorations here, I like it! I found these cute sugar dishes at the grocery store this week and just had to snap a picture =].

3. Tanya and I needed a pick me up this week...and only sushi would do it. We ended up at a place by my apartment called EDO. It was very tasty. We had miso soup, gyozas, spicy tuna rolls and two a bit more Peruvian inspired rolls, which were very good! We might have over ordered a tad =]

4. I found these adorable mint green flats to go with my floral mint and yellow skinny jeans. For $16, SCORE!

5. Over the weekend we bought another suitcase and now I am ready to start packing things away! We have 4 suitcases to fit the last 2 years in =]!

High Five For Friday!!!

Hello Dolls! Hope you all had a great week. Mine was pretty awesome. We met up with some old friends and made some new ones. Got the green light to pack for home. Explored the Peruvian wine country and as always, we ate some great food.

  • 1. My favorite cafe is now selling homemade English Muffins! They are a bit pricey @ $4.50 for a bag of 4, but so worth it.
  • 2. While getting the muffins, Brian and I sat down for some coffee and shared a Nutella cupcake. [both 1 and 2 happened before I decided to give up gluten]
  • 3. Our good friend Chan came back to visit Peru, he worked with Brian on the project down here, but had gone home a few months earlier. We went out to dinner with him, Andy, Jules and Abe at a place called Panchita.
  • 4. This is a shot of the vineyard we visited in Pachacamac, what a great afternoon that was. Check out that trip here.
  • 5. Yesterday I hung out with Tanya and Miranda and had a blast. We went to lunch, did some souvenir shopping and ended up at this quirky bar where we had Cholopolitans [Cosmopolitan, but with pisco, of course] and boozy Passion Fruit slushies with condensed milk. Hahaha I know, it's weird! But when in Rome...

High Five For Friday!!!

My favorite day is here again!!! Today is specifically exciting, because I'm going wine tasting with Tanya and her friend Miranda, who is visiting from Canada! This is my first visit to a Peruvian winery, so let's hope for the best hahaha! Fingers crossed, kay!?

1. New Girl season two is on Netflix and I've been watching back to back episodes like a crazy person! She's got some hot hair, wish my bangs were that cool.

2. Over the weekend we went out for brunch with a few friends and guess what? There was a chocolate fountain!!! OMG!!! I dipped everything I could in it and then had some more stuff...It was epic!

3. While on my usual wander with Jules, to lunch, I found this gem. You guys, I'm in love with this coat!!! It's alpaca and all hand stitched detail...and it's just under $500, yeah! That's not happening.

4. On the up side I made some mini apple pies, super amazing! Watch out for the recipe next week, they're pretty healthy too! Well pretty healthy for pie.

5. Last but not least...HOT NUTELLA! Brian wanted to have it too, after I kept talking about it last week. So we went. Best hot, liquid yumminess ever! They know how to make you fat in Peru, land of carbs and chocolate =]

On an even more personal note, I don't always just talk about food and clothes. I promise. I just haven't done much lately =]

High Five For Friday!

Once again it's Friday! YAY! Here is a little recap of my week =]

1. Last Friday was kinda wonderful, I had lunch with Jules and Tanya at my fave restaurant in Lima, Saqra. I had my usual, grilled octopus causa. Here is a recipe for a more traditional one.

2. On one of my wandering trips, ok I was really going to the grocery store, I found this gem. how cute is this little old car? Does it look like a Mini Cooper to you? I think so too =]!

3. Also on Friday, after the lovely lunch with the girls, we went shopping. Shocking, I know. I managed to score this awesome Mariners shirt, this is all happening in Peru that's why it's so exciting.

4. The sun has finally come out and I hope it stays awhile. Check out the view from our balcony! We don't have it too bad, do we? =]

5. During the above mentioned shopping trip, I also got this necklace on sale for 50% off! I did end up changing the chain it was on with a silver one I had, because most other metals give me trouble.

Well that's it! My week in a nutshell. I did also pull a muscle in my butt on Wednesday during yoga, now I walk a bit funny, but I'm not sure what the picture to describe that would be, hehehe.

High Five For Friday // 2.0

Morning dolls! Because I'm pretty sure no guy reads my blog, with that being said if you are a guy and reading this right now..."Hi, Brian!" =]=]=]

1. This past Wednesday it was one of my grandma's 71st birthday! She is the best and I love her so much! This is a picture of her and grandpa on their wedding day. Fun fact, both of my grannies are named Mariya!

2. I scored this awesome cardigan for 50% off at my fave store in Peru, MCH.

3. On Thursday, Tanya and I had the best Nutella Lattes at KulCafe. Next week I'll be trying the Hot Nutella, yeah it's just what it sounds like, melted Nutella in a cup with some milk. OMG!

4. I'm not gonna lie, I've been wanting a tiny-bean-bag-eye-pillow since I started yoga again. So this week I made a few  =]

5. I miss my dogs so much, it's already been two months since they have been at my parents and I have been back in Peru...boo and I can't wait to go home!

High Five For Friday!

You guys, I'm finally trying this link up thing! Hey now, right?! HaHa =] I've been following this blog that does it every week and now I'm joining the lovely lady behind it! YAY! Here it goes, my 5 fave things
about this week:

one
I'm finally getting used to my blonde hair! Pretty amazing considering I didn't think it'd happen =]

two
Thanks to my lovely friend Tanya I started yoga again =]. This is the cute studio we have class in. I really like it so far, although they do some weird stuff. At the end of every class we do shavasana, or corpse pose [it's where you lay down and relax and clear your mind], which is great and I love it. Anyway they give you a tiny bean bag to put over your eyes and everyone breaks out blankets. Haha I mean it's a great idea, but it doesn't last more than 5 to 10 minutes.

three
I got to meet baby Ava. She's the little cutie we had a baby shower for a few weeks back. She's adorable and next week I'll share with you the presents I made for her =]!

four
I perfected my version of the London Fog Latte! It's 2 bags of Earl Grey Tea, 12oz water, 2 tbsp Baileys Vanilla Creamer, 1/4 cup milk, 1 tsp vanilla extract, and 2 tbsp coffee liqueur =] This is the boozy version!

five
Brian has this Friday off!!! I'm always so happy and thankful when we get to spend more time together =]

Linking up with Lauren for H54F today!

Happy Friday Friends!!!
